This week in Year 3

Friday 28th February | 1 comment

We have had a busy first week back in Year 3. The children have really impressed us with their focus this week ready for a fantastic half term.

In Literacy, we have written our own non-chronological reports about Ancient Egypt. The children needed to focus on their technical vocabulary and sentence structures. They have spent a long time researching and planning their report and we are excited to read the final pieces.

In Maths, the children have started a new topic of measurement. They really enjoyed measuring a range of objects around the classroom. They had to work particularly hard on their accuracy as they were measuring to the nearest mm!

We also started our new Science topic of “How does a plant grow from a seed?”. The children impressed us with what they already knew and had some fantastic questions that they would like to explore during our topic.

Our Ancient Egyptians history topic is drawing to a close. Learning Log this week is related to the Egyptian pyramids. We are very excited for our visit to Leeds City Museum next week where we will explore a range of historic artefacts. Please remember the children will need a pack lunch.

Have a fantastic weekend,

Miss Chambers, Miss Ellis and the Year 3 team.

Finnan has really enjoyed the Egyptians project, he’ll be slightly sad about that one coming to a close!
