Home learning

Friday 20th March | No comments yet

I have had the pleasure of teaching children in both Year 3 classes this week and, in a world full of chaos and uncertainty, it has been a joy to see their continued enthusiasm towards their learning. The children have worked exceptionally hard on some setting descriptions, using increasingly creative and ambitious vocabulary to paint a clear picture in the reader’s mind. In maths, they have demonstrated a good understanding of length and perimeter and had lots of fun experimenting with fraction walls. Well done and thank you!

As of next week, the children will be able to access daily maths and English lessons using Google Classroom. There will be a range of activities, some of which will need to be completed in their home learning book and some with online assignments that will need submitting for marking. The children have been shown how to access materials, complete work and respond to teacher feedback. Again, I have been so impressed with the maturity they have shown towards this situation and how quickly they have picked up new ICT skills. The children will need to use their school email address and the password they use for our chromebooks to get into their google account. If you are unsure of this information, please ask. Those children who have been in school at the end of this week have joined their google classrooms in preparation for lots of hard work (and fun). For those children who have not, the codes are as follows:

3E class – phzttna

3C class – zdc4f47

Year 3 English – s5wwelz

Year 3 maths zsvisl2

Please ensure you have joined the classroom for English, maths and your own class. Instructions of how to do this are below.

Please spend time completing assigned tasks on Mathletics, learning multiplication and division facts using the Hit the Button website, practising spelling targets on Spelling Shed, reading lots of books and having a go at the activities that were sent home in packs. I have also set up another competition between the two classes on TTRockstars – who will win this time?

Joe Wicks, the body coach, will be streaming daily PE lessons on his YouTube channel at 9am to help children stay active. The children really enjoyed taking part in his Children in Need work out earlier in the year so I am sure they will love these lessons! https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you need any help.

Stay safe,

Miss Ellis and the Year 3 team
