This week has been an exciting time in Year 3. The children have been using the den area at break times and have created their own camps. Many of the children have linked this to their Stone Age History topic, imagining that they are Palaeolithic people battling for survival. The den area is an excellent place for children to learn collaboration and organisation skills as they have to work together to construct their plans, without any adult intervention.
Literacy has been based around the book, The Stone Age Boy, with the aim that the children write a diary about a day in the life of a cave person. In order to help the children’s imagination develop, we will be immersing the children further into stone age life next week when we hold a Stone Age Day on Thursday 12th October. The children are encouraged to come dressed in the style of cave men and women, although please be mindful of the weather (please see copy of letter below).
This week in Maths, the children have worked further on column addition and have applied it to solving some real life problems.
Congratulations to Grace, Kellen, Gabriella and Ashwin for receiving special mentions this week!
Have a great weekend!
