A good week to be in Year 3

Saturday 29th June | 1 comment

There has been plenty of notable performances and successes this week involving Year 3 children.

On Wednesday morning Emily in 3B represented the school at the Pudsey Spelling Bee. She worked as part of a team to answer questions based on the Year 3-4 words. Their score was then added to the Year 2 and Year 5-6 scores to determine the winners.  A very excited Emily then returned to show her well-deserved silver medal for second place.

On Wednesday afternoon, Todd and Erin attended the Pudsey Mini Olympics held at the John Charles Centre for Sport along with 28 other children. As they competed in the Year 3-4 category, most of their opponents were older but they were not outdone by their rivals. They finished either 1st or 2nd in their three events and, even though the team finished out of the top three, can be very proud of their efforts.

On Friday morning the whole school watched the S Factor finals. Our representatives, Joshua and Noah, performed their experiments first and both gave very confident deliveries. After a wide range of science was demonstrated, 3B were delighted to hear that Joshua had been voted the winner of the junior competition. His experiment and explanation showing refraction of a laser light was even better than the class heats and he was a well-deserved winner.

Due to the extended S Factor in the morning, there was no Special Mention Assembly.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the camp over if you are attending.

Mr Beevers and Mr Winfield.
