Where’s the week gone? It’s behind you.

The week had a brilliant start with our trip to see the pantomime Cinderella at Wakefield’s Theatre Royal. The children loved the atmosphere of a live performance. The lighting was mesmerising, the singing was both entertaining and moving and the ugly sisters made everyone laugh. At first, some of the children were a little unsure about the audience participation aspect but they soon joined in with the traditional lines and singing. Overall, it was a great way to finish our traditional tales topic and will hopefully become a regular event in the Year 3 calendar. Special thanks go to those parents who offered their help at the last minute and to Yaseen’s mum who ably assisted with all aspects of the trip, not least directing the bus convoy through horrible traffic and weather so that we arrived on time.
This week in Maths, we have been working very hard to master division number lines and jumping in chunks of the number we are dividing by instead of singular jumps of the number. Below is an example of a division number line using the chunking method so that, if your child is stuck with their homework, you are able to explain the process.
In PE, the dance group, led by Miss Micklethwaite and Sally from the Northern Arts Factory have continued to learn and practise their routine and will be performing it for the rest of the children next week.
The gymnastics groups, at Gym Magic and at school, are continuing to work on positions, jumps and rolls. The group led by Mr Beevers have been showing off their rhythmic gymnastics skills using ribbons, along with practising their balancing skills on a narrow beam.
Just a reminder that on Wednesday next week, the children can come to school in their Christmas jumpers for the Christmas Fair.
Special mentions this week go to Arish, Oliver, Joel and Josh. Well done for a great week.
Have a lovely weekend.
Mr Beevers and Miss Micklethwaite.
