Exploring

This week, the children went on a walk to St John’s Church in Farsley to investigate the stones in the churchyard. 3M managed to beat the weather on Tuesday but 3B had to wait until Thursday. We went to look at the erosion that had occurred over the years and try to work out what had caused it. The children enjoyed the practical aspect of their Science lesson and being able to relate their learning over the past few weeks to what they could see.

Also in Science, the children looked at a range of fossils and researched on the internet how they were formed.

The children completed their alternative ending of The Stone Age Boy and 3E read their work to the class, in front of a Stone Age cave.

Our PE on Wednesday is ably assisted by Sam Jackson from Leeds Rhinos and to show our support for the team in this weekends Challenge Cup Final, we recorded a good luck video message. We also attempted to spell out “Good Luck Leeds Rhinos In The Challenge Cup Final” using children, but 60 children don’t go a long way so just wrote LEEDS!

3B started to learn to sign the song Let Your Spirit Fly. After only a couple of practices, we recorded the video below. Well done.

Next week, the children will be on the school field at playtime and lunchtime and so will require wellies, as there are soft, muddy patches after the recent bad weather.

Next week also has parents evening. We are looking forward to seeing or speaking to everyone on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Finally, Stone Age Day is on Thursday. The weather forecast is mixed at the moment but we have plenty of indoor activities, although there are some exciting plans for out doors.

Special mentions this week go to Zain, Saad, Ameera and Eesa

Have a lovely weekend.
