A week of explanations!
Friday 4th October | No comments yet
This week we have been busy, busy, busy! In Maths, we have been continuing our work with place value. As well as consolidating our work on greater than and less than, we have been thinking partitioning numbers and adding and subtracting 10s and 1s using a 100 square to make links. We played the following game, making reasoning statements about where each piece goes. Have a go yourself as will help you with homework this, which is to do with completing missing parts of a 100 square.
In Literacy, we have been writing up our explanations text inventions. We have been putting into practise all the elements we have been looking at during the unit of work – including using questions for subheadings, paragraphs, subordinate conjunctions and time connectives. Next week, we will be edited and improving our work.
In History, we have being rocking it with our work on the Stone Age. We looked at how Stone Age people hunted and the types of animals they would come across.
In Science, we have be looking at rocks more closely. We have been using magnifying glasses to study different types of rocks determining how that are structured and thinking about their properties.
A reminder that Learning Log is now due in and should returned no later than Wednesday 9th October.
Have a fabulous weekend Year 3!
